The Resplendent Quetzal is the national bird of Guatemala and is truly a special sight to see, if you manage to spot one that is, as they sadly a very few in numbers these days in Guatemala. This is mainly due to the amount of birds that were sadly hunted for their feathers. Ancient Mayan Kings would use their plumes to add extravagance to their headdress.
Today, throughout Guatemala you can see many textiles displaying the Queztal within their intricate woven designs. This Hand woven and hand made Cushion cover is a fine example of this. The design itself represents the Nebaj community, who’s textiles notoriously often display the bird.

100% Cotton, natural plant, fruit and vegetable dyes, hand woven on a backstrap loom and hand sewn cotton tassels. Cushion Cover only.
